music.jpg Ged Wilson has a gig in Bury
 Hi there,

After 40 years at BT since I took early retirement in 2011 I've been following my passion for music with recording my songs and playing gigs.

I've got a gig coming up on 1st September which is quite local at the Met in Bury so I was wondering if you could spread the word on my behalf and let people know. It would be good to catch up with some of my old BT colleagues.

For further info,

Cheers
Ged

It's is with great sadness we have to report the death of Paul Reay on Monday 10th, July following a short illness. Paul was a smashing bloke who spent most of his BT life working in Dalton on the 3rd Floor, Dial House.
Ron Dawson is in touch with Paul's family and will arrange for the funeral details to be posted on this site when available.

play.jpg New Comments button!!
 Hi Folks,

I've been doing a bit of work on the website, most of it is background stuff which shouldn't impact on how the sight works.

However if you do spot a problem, please pop a note on the 'Contact Us' page and I will look into it tout suite as they say!

One addition we do have now is the ability to add a comment to a notice. I get quite a few contacts about notices, so now there is somewhere to put them.

If people still want to use the 'Contact Us' page or email me comments, no problem! I can add comments as needed.

If you would like to do it yourself the new button is here!!

2pints.jpg Dave Sharp has Escaped

Just after the strike in 1987, my then boss in Edgeley Exchange asked me if I would go into Dial House for a few months to help with the back log of Kilostream records. Those few months turned into 30 years.
So after 37 years with BT I have finally managed to escape.
I will be celebrating with a few drinks in the Rover's Return on Chapel St on Fri 26th May from 1200 until late.
Anyone who fancies a jar or two is welcome, hope to see you all there.

aerial.jpg The Story of the Landline
There is an excellent program that was broadcast by the BBC last week documenting the history of telephones in the UK.

It is called Timeshift: Dial 'B' for Britain: The Story of the Landline

“From early call boxes to the Post Office Tower, Timeshift tells the story of how Britain's phone network was built over the course of 100 years, and its impact on the public.”

It will be available on the BBC iPlayer until about 20th May.
