candles.jpg Farewell John Swain
Dave Green has contacted us with the sad news of John's death.

Today I have received the sad news of the passing of John, from a heart attack, on Friday 22nd July from his daughter Emma.

John was a friend of over 50 years after working with him at Ashton T.E.C on Shepley Industrial Estate, Manchester North and then also in Manchester Central.

Regards,
Dave.

Dave has updated us as follows, there will be no funeral.

I have had further details from Emma, John's daughter, that John will not be having a funeral. He originally wanted to offer his body for medical science but that has not been possible. His next wish was no funeral but to have a Pure Cremation, so that has been arranged by the family.

wreath.jpg Farewell Ken Winter
Jag Patel passed on the sad news of Ken's death from Ken's son Michael.
Ken passed away suddenly on Sunday 3rd July.

Ken worked in Dial House Manchester for all his time at BT.
He joined as an adult entrant in 1978 starting on Circuit Provision, moving to Digital Circuit Provision as equipment evolved.
Then later on to Transmission Maintenance in Manchester 'R' where he was promoted to TO. He worked there until he retired.

Ken was a keen water sport enthusiast yachting at Dovestones and sail boarding anywhere there was water!
He always took his board everywhere he went away in his motor home, a Mazda Bongo if I remember correctly.
Lately Ken was a keen walker who enjoyed the outdoor life with friends.
He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet, with a smile and a cheerful hello for everyone, he will be sadly missed.

We now have a confirmed date and time for Ken's funeral:

Tuesday 2nd August at 11:00am
Dukinfield Crematorium
Hall Green Road
Dukinfield
SK16 4EP

Then afterwards:

Saddleworth Cricket Club
Well-i-hole Road
Greenfield
Oldham
OL3 7HY

Ken's son Michael says:
Please join us if you can to celebrate Ken's life with stories food and beer. There is no dress code, family flowers only.

2pints.jpg Richard, Bob Phil and Simon joint retirement doo
Richard Penningtom, Bob Sharples, Phil Lawrence and Simon Beecham are having a joint retirement doo.

They would like to invite friends and colleagues for drinks and nibbles and a general knees-up to celebrate their escape from BT.

Between the four of them they have devoted more than 150 years to the cause. That must be worth a few bevvies!

Please let us know via our contact page if you are attending, Covid permitting. Rick wants to know how many sausage rolls he needs to make! Partners are welcome as well.

The Doo:

Friday 6th May from 2:00pm
Arden Arms
23 Millgate
