notice.jpg Piper Alpha Disaster Anniversary
I saw this post from, Ian, this week on the Telecoms Heritage Group forum and have copied the post here - with permission. I was unaware of this until I saw this post. Thanks Ian.

Martin

Gents,

On the night of 6th July 1988 Piper Alpha exploded and sank, killing 165 men onboard. What's the relavance to this group I hear you say? What has rarely ever gets a mention, three of those who died were BT employees. Graham Gill Whyte 42, James Gilbert Whyte 53, both Aerial Riggers, and Alistair Adam Thompson 45, Telecomms Engineer, were onboard on that fateful night. They were out there performing maintenace on Piper's Trans Horizon Radio System, or Tropo Scatter, for short. Please bear them a thought, along with the other 162 souls as we mark the 35th aniversary of that disaster.
