| | Dennis Foden has finally hit the button after 41 years with BT.
April 19th 1971 i set out at telephone house as a TTA
i came out of my time on E32 exchange construction staff 1974.
i later moved to trunk exchange in dalton and then pioneer on 3rd floor dial house from 1976 till 1990.
on closure of the exchange i have spent time on private wires;line ups job control and maintenance 1990-2002
on leaving private wires i then moved to broadband,and finally ispco till the present day.
over the years i have made many friends and met many colleagues who i will sorely miss.
i am not sure that i will miss the bureaucracy and stats though.
although my finishing date is 29th June 2012 as i hav outstanding leave today 19/06/2012 is my last day.
i will however endeavour to return Friday 29/06/2012 for a buffet lunch with my fellow escapees on the 5th floor Dial House,
and then off to The Moon Under The Water on Deansgate for a few scoops.
my fellow escapees will be:
Robert Scholes,Phil Barnett,Gill Berry,Martin Rochford and Noel Vazquez.
I hope to see you all soon
and anyone else that knows us

| | Hi All
I'm retiring from BT on the 29th June (thanks God) after nearly 45 years, it's been a while since I moved south, but do get back up when I can, and I've caught up with most of you at the BIG DO. I'll be up in Manchester for a few days and thought I'd get the beer in to celebrate.
I intend to be in the Hare and Hounds on Shude Hill on the 13th June from tea time onwards, to get you a celebratory beer.
I've enjoyed my time in BT and it's been a pleasure to work with you, I am sorry to be leaving behind the many friends and acquaintances I have made over the years, but hopefully will catch up with you if not on the 13th at the BIG Do's.
Please pass this on to anyone else that knows me, I'm sure I've missed many people.
Hope to see you on the 13th

| | After leaving BT recently Mike Park and Alan Campbell have announced they will be having their joint leaving 'DO' in the Hare and Hounds on Shudehill in Manchester on Friday 30th March.
Allan worked most recently on frames in Dial/Irwell and Mike Park spent many years dodging bullets in Turret, before dividing his time in Dial/Irwell between working on the frames and utilising the smoking area outside the building.
Mike has not changed since he left the company and is therefor still proving almost impossible to contact.

| | Fred Nelson has just been granted an Early Leaver Package from the company and will be finishing today 31st January 2012.
It is such short notice that he will not be able to sort out a leaving do before departing but has asked me to post a notice to say that he will be at the BT Reunion Do on 23rd March from about 4 pm onwards where he hopes to catch up with all that have worked with or known him over the years.
On your behalf I would like wish Fred all the very best in his early retirement and I am sure we will all raise a glass or two to him on the 23rd.

| | Colin Wystyrk killed in RTA |
| | I have just had a call from Colin's bother, Martyn, to advise that he was knocked down and killed in a car incident on Thursday evening. Following retirement Colin resided in Yorkshire and was walking home from the pub on Thursday evening along a country lane when he was fatally injured. Colin was 66.
The coroner is obviously involved and funeral arrangements will be communicated once we have more details.
If anybody would like to get in touch with Martyn for further information he can be contacted on 0161 431 9361 or mob: 07817 534920.
Martyn would appreciate if you could pass on the tragic news to anybody that may have known Colin. He especially mention Alan Whitehouse for whom I am trying to get in contact with.
