 | | Eddie Holmes R.I.P. |
| | Sorry to have to inform you that Eddie Holmes died on Monday last,July 23rd.
Eddie served for many years on fitting in the old Manchester Central area before ending up working until retirement in Dial House.
He had a fantastic presence at union meetings, never backwards in coming forward and always the voice of reason. he was an extremely enthusiastic walker/hiker and actively instrumental in campaigning to keep public footpaths open.
He will be missed greatly by the many people who had the pleasure and honour to share his company.
There is a committal service at Dukinfild Crem at 10.30 on Tuesday July 31st followed by a memorial Service at
Whitfield Church Glossop at 11.15 |

| | Tommy's wife Louise called his manager this week to say that Tommy passed away peacefully at Willow Wood this morning, as many of you who knew Tommy know he had a long battle with cancer, and fought it in the quiet, determined way that was typical of Tommy'
s nature, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements have been made as below, Louise went on to say no flowers please by request but any donations to Willow Wood Hospice Ashton would be appreciated.
Please can you forward this to colleagues that you think may of known Tommy.

| | Sadly my Father Derek Southward passed away on Sunday 24th June. He had retired from BT in 2010 having served over 40 years straight from school. The funeral is on Weds 4th July at 1.30pm St Andrews Church in Hadfield, Glossop Derbyshire. |

| | Dennis Foden has finally hit the button after 41 years with BT.
April 19th 1971 i set out at telephone house as a TTA
i came out of my time on E32 exchange construction staff 1974.
i later moved to trunk exchange in dalton and then pioneer on 3rd floor dial house from 1976 till 1990.
on closure of the exchange i have spent time on private wires;line ups job control and maintenance 1990-2002
on leaving private wires i then moved to broadband,and finally ispco till the present day.
over the years i have made many friends and met many colleagues who i will sorely miss.
i am not sure that i will miss the bureaucracy and stats though.
although my finishing date is 29th June 2012 as i hav outstanding leave today 19/06/2012 is my last day.
i will however endeavour to return Friday 29/06/2012 for a buffet lunch with my fellow escapees on the 5th floor Dial House,
and then off to The Moon Under The Water on Deansgate for a few scoops.
my fellow escapees will be:
Robert Scholes,Phil Barnett,Gill Berry,Martin Rochford and Noel Vazquez.
I hope to see you all soon
and anyone else that knows us

| | Pete Bantham Leaving the Company |
| | Hi All
I'm retiring from BT on the 29th June (thanks God) after nearly 45 years, it's been a while since I moved south, but do get back up when I can, and I've caught up with most of you at the BIG DO. I'll be up in Manchester for a few days and thought I'd get the beer in to celebrate.
I intend to be in the Hare and Hounds on Shude Hill on the 13th June from tea time onwards, to get you a celebratory beer.
I've enjoyed my time in BT and it's been a pleasure to work with you, I am sorry to be leaving behind the many friends and acquaintances I have made over the years, but hopefully will catch up with you if not on the 13th at the BIG Do's.
Please pass this on to anyone else that knows me, I'm sure I've missed many people.
Hope to see you on the 13th

 | | Mike Park and Alan Campbell |
| | After leaving BT recently Mike Park and Alan Campbell have announced they will be having their joint leaving 'DO' in the Hare and Hounds on Shudehill in Manchester on Friday 30th March.
Allan worked most recently on frames in Dial/Irwell and Mike Park spent many years dodging bullets in Turret, before dividing his time in Dial/Irwell between working on the frames and utilising the smoking area outside the building.
Mike has not changed since he left the company and is therefor still proving almost impossible to contact.

| | Fred Nelson has just been granted an Early Leaver Package from the company and will be finishing today 31st January 2012.
It is such short notice that he will not be able to sort out a leaving do before departing but has asked me to post a notice to say that he will be at the BT Reunion Do on 23rd March from about 4 pm onwards where he hopes to catch up with all that have worked with or known him over the years.
On your behalf I would like wish Fred all the very best in his early retirement and I am sure we will all raise a glass or two to him on the 23rd.
