flowers2.jpg Thanks from Brian Schofield's family
Just like to pass on the thanks from the family of Brian Schofield whose funeral took place on Thursday 27th March.

Family wrote:

Many thanks for spreading the word and sending on the details.
We had several BT colleagues attend and it was really good to see them and my mum was very appreciative of the attending and giving their support.
I can't remember the names of all who attended unfortunately.
The church was pretty full and the service went very well.

All the very best and please do pass on our gratitude for the ex BT colleagues.

Neil and Ian Schofield (and of course Vi)

flowers2.jpg Farewell Ron Blood
It has been brought to my notice that Ron Blood passed away the other week. He had been suffering from a cancer for sometime. His funeral was this Monday.

Sorry I could not advise earlier but I have only just found out.

Many will remember Ron as the Oldham ATE manager. He will be sadly missed.

flowers2.jpg Farewell Brian Schofield
I have had an email from Brian's son earlier today advising of the death of his father:

I am writing to let you know of the sudden and very unexpected death of my father Brian Schofield. He died on Tuesday morning after walking back from collecting his daily paper. He managed to get settled in his chair and fell asleep after reading the sports section. Sadly he never woke up.

Once we know the date of his funeral I will let everybody know. Should you wish to attend his funeral you would be more than welcome.

Yours sincerely,

Ian schofield ( Brian's eldest son)

Once I know the funeral arrangements I will post the details.

flowers2.jpg Farewell George Homa - updated
Phil Leighton from the Blackfriars MDF contacted me with this sad news.

Unfortunately I need to let you all know of some very sad news that I have been made aware of.

I had a call off George’s sister in law last night to inform me that George had sadly passed away over the weekend.

George had been with the business since September 1971 and was a very popular member of the Manchester team.

I have informed his colleagues on the BVG324 team this morning.

As I’m sure George came into contact with many people over the course of 40+ years I’d appreciate it if you could pass this on to your teams. I’ll be in touch with funeral details as soon as I have them.

He will be greatly missed.

Chris Grocott
Senior Operations Manager

George’s brother has confirmed the funeral details as follows:

The funeral will take place at 1pm on 26th March.
At Hollinwood Crematorium.
Roman Rd, Hollinwood,
Oldham, Lancashire,
OL8 3LU

Followed by a drink at the Bridgewater Pub.
197 Manchester Road
Hollinwood
Oldham
Lancashire
OL8 4PS

On a personal note I remember working with George on UG Works as a 'youth' he had a great sense of humour, he will be sadly missed.

Graham Whiteside.

 Update from Don Binks.

Sad news of the death of Dave Roebuck, who passed away Wed 27 Nov 2012 after a short illness.

Many will remember Dave from exchange construction in the old Manchester North area and later from the NOU in York St and Dial House.

Mike Norris forwarded this sad news from Terry Grogan.

Bad news I`m afraid, I have just had a call from Brian Roebuck to tell me that Dave passed away today.

question.jpg Crossley Street TEC
 Jim Perking wrote:-

Hi, I hope you're all keeping well and it's a shame we didn't have a do this year - hope to see you all again in 2014.

I recently met up with an old BT and biker mate, Neil (Angel) Chorley 1971 to 78 ish, and he asked me if anyone knows the whereabouts of some of his old colleagues from Crossley Street TEC.

Neil was employed on Coin Box installations there before he moved on to a successful career with Calma Computers in California (though he actually worked at the GEC plant in Trafford Park) and later ran his own networking company in Wigan.

He can only recall a few names from the TEC (and we've all had that problem lately, eh?), Dave Davies, Steve Hagan, and Bill McKeever. If anyone is still in touch with the boys from the TEC, perhaps you might like to get back to me by email and I'll put you in touch.

Kind regards,

Jim Perkins, ex Private Wire Works Orders, 1st Floor Dial House, 1971 to 92.

candles.jpg Fred Croft's Funeral
Rick Hardisty has forwarded me the details for Fred Croft's funeral from Andrew Garner.

Dear friends

It is with regret that I have to inform you of the sad death of Fred Croft.

Fred, who has been very ill for the last couple of years, died last week.

Fred was an absolute stalwart of the party, both in Marple North and in Hazel Grove constituency. He regularly delivered two large rounds of leaflets and always put up the posters on the main roads in Marple North. In 2005 General election he was Andrew's driver.

The funeral will be on Tuesday 26 November, 2.30pm, at the Rowan Chapel at Stockport Crematorium. Family flowers only and any donations to The Meadows, which is where he lived for the past couple of years.

Andrew Garner
Office Manager for Andrew Stunell MP
