notice.jpg Sad news about Susan Burney - Barry Burneys Wife
 --------------------------------------------------------------------
All,
It is with regret that Barry Burney has asked me to pass on the sad news about the loss of his wife Susan. Those of you that know Barry well will be aware that Sue has been poorly with MS for many years. Barry left BT 5 years ago to help care for Sue but sadly last Wednesday she passed away after suffering a heart attack. The funeral arrangements are yet to be made and I will pass these on once I know the date. Barry is obviously in grief for his loss and has asked for privacy at this sad time. He has told me he may take a phone call but doesn’t want visits at the moment.

Please pass this message along to Barry’s friends and colleagues. Thank-you.

Regards
Andy Pownall
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Susan’s Cremation will take place at Dukinfield Crematorium at 14.30 next Tuesday 23/6/15. There will then be a Wake at Peruga (old Woodheys) Marple Rd, Chisworth / Marple Bridge.

Please could you let Barry know if you are likely to attend the Wake for catering arrangements. Barry’s Mobile No - 07802912536

Regards Andy Pownall

--------------------------------------------------------------------Just to add Barry has asked for Donations to the MS Society rather than flowers. The funeral has been arranged by Ian Mann Funeral Directors Ltd of Marple, Cheshire. 0161 427 9466

2pints.jpg John Cresswell calls it a day!
John will be leaving BT at the end of the month.

His last day will be Tuesday 30th June. To celebrate this momentous occasion John will be propping up the bar at Weatherspoon’s Moon Under Water on Deansgate from 13.00 onward.

When the American Museum of Natural History's palaeontologist William Diller Matthew published his book Dinosaurs, tucked away in a footnote, he made a suggestion that dinosaurs might return someday.

cross.jpg Farewell Doug Whelan
Bob Tattersall contacted us with this sad news.

It is with great sadness that I received the following news from Paul Whelan, Doug's brother this Sunday evening.

He told me that Doug passed away peacefully in his sleep probably friday or saturday night at his home in Woodley, Stockport.

Doug worked on Manchester South area on PABX Mtce for many years,he then retired in the mid 90s and worked in Oman for the Government on telecoms duties.

He then came back and became a stalwart of the golf society and a vociferous Man U and fitness fan.

He left a grown up son and daughter and grandchildren
Doug was well liked...the life and soul of an evening out, his friends will miss him terribly.

Doug was 68...RIP old pal...
There will probably be an autopsy due to the suddenness of his passing...details to follow.

Once Bob gets back to us with the funeral details We will add them to the notice.

aerial.jpg Mike Baines trying to contact Jane
I've lost contact with an old friend from BT and I'm slightly concerned.

She worked at Church Street from about 1969 until she took early retirement about 5-10 years ago.

Her maiden name was Jane Nuttall and she had a couple of married names which I cannot recall. I think one was Abbott?

She will be about 62/63 now and I lost e-mail contact with her about 5 years ago.

If anyone can help please get in touch using the contact page.

Update

Pete McDougll replied:-

Hiya

Tell Mike that I've seen Jane within the last 12 months at my local hairdressers and she is alive and well - took some time for her to recognise me - she was a friend of someone I knew.

notice.jpg Arthur Cottam
Hi, seen in the MEN from the 30th March 2015

Police appeal

Can you help police trace the relatives of a man from Eccles?

They are trying to trace the family of 77-year-old Arthur Cottam who was sadly found dead at his Peel Green Road home on Saturday.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Call the police coroners officer on 0161 856 4687 with any information.

Arthur worked at Pendleton Telephone Exchange for some 30 years as TO on exchange maintenance with my Dad, John Faulkner. Despite that we know relatively little about Arthur, just remembering him as a very polite and always helpful chap, sad to see such a request though.

Regards
