cross.jpg Tragic death of Brian Greenwood
 Mike Ku and Chris James have been in touch about about the death of Brian who died as a result of a road accident on Sunday (27-10-2019).

The accident is still under investigation by the police, and an arrest was made at the scene.

 Andy Hurley contacted us with the sad news of Fred's death.




Yesterday Fred's wife Marion called me to say that Fred had passed away.

2pints.jpg Reunion - Manchester North/South/Central Apprentices 1979
 ##Note: Street name updated 9/10/19 ##
The 1979 intake of GPO apprentices from North//South//Central are celebrating//commiserating 40 Years hard graft this year by having a get together.
Everyone from the intake is welcome, and any other interested parties.
We are gathering for a pint or 2 at the English Lounge, High St. Manchester M4 1EA from 14:00 till late on Saturday 26th October.

 Ged Morris informed us of the passing of Festus.

Festus worked on Building Services mainly based in Telecoms House.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Franco, his son, has contacted us with an update to the funeral arrangements. There is a change to the venue and the time.

 It is with a sad heart that I have to spread the word that Phil Beattie died recently at the age of 53.
He may not be known to many of you but when I was redeployed from the NOU I went to work for him at the old Prestwich Exchange overseeing contractors on the Network & Green Field Sites.


Funeral Service for Philip Beattie will be held at
GreenAcres Rainford Cemetery & Ceremonial Park
Blindfoot Road, Rainford, St Helens, WA11 7HX
at 12noon on Thursday 3rd October.

After many years at BT Paul Clayton has finally escaped!

 I have been notified by Phil Hopkins, that our friend & former colleague Sean Smith, sadly passed away last Thursday. He had been ill for some time with asbestosis.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:-
Mass at 11:00 at St. Edwards, Spring Lane, Lees, Oldham, Lancs, OL4 5AJ On 19th September
Then onto Hollinwood Cemetery, Roman Road, Failsworth, OL8 3LU
After which it will be Smokies, Ashton Road, Oldham, OL8 3HX

 I received the news last week that Steve Coney has passed away after a short illness. Steve spent his career in BT on Exchange Construction in the old Manchester North Area and then throughout the NW region. Steve was a popular and well respected Technical Officer who will be remembered with fondness by all who knew
him.

The funeral is on Monday 29th July at 2:20 pm.
