Jeff wrote
Received the following from Dave Armstrong;
Dave Smith affectionately known as DAS sadly passed away on Saturday 13th June at his home in Wales. I understand he had been battling with cancer for some time.
Dave was probably best known as TOA at Macclesfield RSC in the 1970s and 80s. RIP Dave and sincere condolences to his family.
I have no details of funeral or family contacts sorry.
Due to the current restrictions on gatherings it is unlikely that friends and colleagues will be able to attend the funeral.
If any further information becomes available we will add it to the notice. |

| | Allan Brown has sent us the sad news or the death of Graham.
Graham Allen passed away this morning. He had recently been receiving treatment at Christies. He was on exchange construction with Howard Timms we believe and later got promoted onto Exchange Contracts in the NW region.
Howard Timms passed us this:
Graham Big G joined as an apprentice in 195x. He later became a TO on Exchange Construction in Manchester and late 1960's onwards was Clerk of Works at the new Turret TkND exchange in Salford and later at Central TXE4.
He also spent some time on exchange planning. He was promoted to Level 1 on exchange contract planning in the North West Regional Office in the mid 1980's and worked there until his retirement in 199x. planning for the replacement digital exchanges across the North West.
I shall always remember him because he was meticulous for detail |

 | | Farewell John Williams |
| | Laurence Capewell got in touch with us about the death of John. Unfortunately John passed away in December but the news has only come to light now.
Pete Watson has let us know about Johns work at BT
John came from Liverpool to take a level one post. Over the years he worked in the North and Central areas in various guises rising to level three in Dial House.
He was a pleasant and respected boss always a gent. He took early retirement and joined the NE21 retirement group meeting monthly for the next 28 years.
Unfortunately latterly he suffered with health problems resulting in his passing with severe breathing problems in December 2019.
He had been unable to communicate in the last couple of months and as a result we only found out in late May. |

 | | Farewell Brian Warren |
| | Jessica Warren contacted us about her Dad's death
My Dad, Brian Warren sadly passed away last Monday (the 16th March). He had been poorly for a few months but his passing was sudden and unexpected - I have only just managed to get access to this site to inform you.
My Dad worked in Dial House in Manchester for many years, all he ever did was tell us stories about his days as BT Engineer and his escapades with ‘the lads’.
Due to the nature of our current situation there will be no funeral, once the restrictions have been lifted we will be arranging a memorial service for people to pay their respects. I will post the details on here as soon we have them.
Stay safe and thank you :) |
