Maurice also taught Telecoms at ' Openshaw ' night school, by far and away the best lecturer who I ever encountered, he knew how to put over the subject so that we would all understand it. I my final working life at '' John Lewis '' I served Maurice on the till and mentioned to him the above, he seemed delighted.

I was a Y2YC from 1964-1967 and was assigned to work for Maurice on the 1st Floor Dial House as part of my training. Maurice had quite a reputation as a disciplinarian for all those who worked for him.
I remember many a time when word got out -- 'Maurice is coming over from Blackfriars St --- look busy' so, we as apprentices, did our best to busy ourselves on the jumper frame when he passed by. He had an awesome reputation and the physical presence to match !
A sad loss for such a conscientious and loyal person --- a true stalwart that's for sure --- as Chris has said.
