| | I spent a memorable couple of weeks under Bill's wing during the 3rd year of my apprenticeship 1972 getting to grips with the world of PABX maintenance - mainly visiting the former ICL building in West Gorton. One of the most enjoyable periods I spent as a trainee; learnt a lot with umpteen laugh-out-loud moments along the way. RIP sir. |

| | Same here but in my first year of TTA apprenticeship probably in 1972 like you I was telling my wife yesterday about ICL and Green halls brewery I think it was on Greengate I also must have called him out numerous times to the police from Private Wires control especially to Chester House as well as Bert Rudd what a character Bill was RIP from me too a legend an enigma. I heard he bought a canal boat after retirement |

| | He did buy a narrow boat and called it 'Sovereign'after the voluntary redundancy scheme at that time.Had a look around it one day at the Tameside canal beer festival and shared a beer with him. Had many good times working with him through the night at MRI and GUS.
Sadly the last time I saw him was at Moon Under Water 2017.
 A great guy...
