 | | Brian Bailey RIP |
| | Jim Perkins contacted us with the sad news of Brian's passing.
I’m sorry to be the bearer of sad news and you may already have heard from Brian Bailey’s niece, Ashley, if you’re on her list, but she has just called me to say that he sadly passed away after being diagnosed with MND, around 8.30 on Saturday 4th Jul.
They were with him last night and he’d decided to stay at home, rather than to attend a hospice, so they think he passed in his sleep.
I’ve asked her to let me know of the service details when they’re available and said I’ll pass them on for you to share with other BT members, if that’s okay.
It’ll be at Macclesfield crematorium, as those were his wishes.
Jim Perkinz
Brian worked for many years in Dial House doing various jobs. He worked on Private Wires - PW's and Various Maintenance Staffs throughout is time there.
He was well known for collecting scrap materials from around the building to recycle them for his own projects. He was one of a kind and a great bloke.
Ashley's email about Brian's funeral:-
The details for Brian’s funeral on Wednesday 22nd July are as follows:
If you would like to follow the funeral procession, please meet at Carlton Road at 10:30am. The procession will include some classic Minis, which we know Brian would have loved.
The funeral service will take place at Macclesfield Crematorium at 11:30am. If you’re meeting us there, please allow plenty of time to park and be seated before the service begins.
Afterwards, everyone is warmly invited to join us for the wake at The Legh Arms,Adlington, where a carvery will be served—at Brian’s request, as a traditional roast was one of his favourite meals.
For anyone who is unable to attend in person, a live video link will be available. Please let us know if you would like the joining details.
Family flowers only, please. If you wish to make a donation in Brian’s memory, donations to the Motor Neurone Disease Association can be made via cash envelopes available at the crematorium or through the association’s online donation link.
Finally, please dress in whatever feels most comfortable to you—whether that’s smart attire or simply jeans, just as Brian would have done.
We look forward to celebrating Brian’s life together and thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time.
Ashley

So sad to hear of Brian’s passing on Saturday. Brian and I had been friends for nearly 50 years, I spent many happy times in Brian’s company, both at work in Turret House and socially. He was diagnosed with MND early November last year following tests regarding initial speech difficulties and swallowing, symptoms escalating rapidly over the previous couple of months. Within weeks of diagnosis Brian was left unable to speak and in a text to me, with his traditional humour and instant dry wit, he opened the message with; “I’m sorry Dave but I’m afraid it’s the end of the one liners!” Brian, always ‘J.B.Bailey’ when signing important stuff, John Brian Bailey, was always an enthusiastic, cheerful and concerned true friend, easy to be with, strong opinions, a man who refused to except the continual demands of constant change and frustrating modernisation and was a very talented, all round, engineer! I’m so glad to have known him and to have shared so many memorable momen |
