2pints.jpg Derek Atherton has left the building.
Derek Atherton (The Rates Man)has finally thrown in the towel and retired from BT. Derek started as an apprentice in 1971 and in his early years worked in Dial House on Trunk Test; FDM Transmission and PW maintenance. He then embarked on Remote access test systems and became the undisputed king of 'RATES' along with Ernie Dodd. Alas all good things must come to an end. Derek would like to invite all his friends and colleagues to his leaving 'Doo' at the HARE and HOUNDS, Shudehill, Manchester on Friday 6th May anytime after 3pm.

smile.jpg Graham Whiteside Escapes!
After nearly 43 years I have finally escaped the evil clutches of BT!

My final day is Friday 29th April. It will no doubt be a strange day when I finally walk out of Dial House for the last time. Most of my working life has been spent in there. If you work in city centre Manchester it pulls you in like a magnet, and it's very difficult to get out again!

But I've finally done it!

I'm looking forward to taking life easy and seeing the sunshine during the day. The last few windows in Dial House were blocked off in the 1990's!

But I digress.

Anyone wising to partake in some light refreshment?

I will be in:-

The Egerton Arms
2 Gore St (off Chapel St)
Salford.
M3 5FP

Wednesday 18th May, from 12:00.

See you there if you can make it.

aerial.jpg Thanks from Michelle and Paul Cavanagh
Michelle Cavanagh contacted us with these kind words regarding father's funeral.

On behalf of my brother, Paul, and myself, please pass our thanks to everyone who attended my dad's funeral on the 29th March. He had a lovely send-off and Paul and I were touched by how many of his friends came to say a last goodbye.

Thanks again,

Michelle Cavanagh

question.jpg Anyone know about Cliff Price?
This popped in on our contacts page from an Ex East RSC person!

Today I bumped into Ray Shepley who informed me that he had heard from Malc Crawford also ex East RSC of the demise of Cliff Price.

Cliff lived for many years on Crab Ln Blackley next door to the Flying Horse, before moving to Swinton a few years ago after which we lost touch.

Can anyone verify the report of Cliff's death?
